Since I also descend from
1)Louris Jansen Opdyck (7TH Great-grandpap)
followed by:
2)Johannes Lourenson Opdyck,(6th Great-grandpap)
3)John (third son)(5th)
4)John Updike of Virginia (4th)
5)Sarah Updike (3rd )and wife of:1)John MCCAVE(not McCabe!!)
2)2nd husband:Govey Brown
NOTE:John McCave and Sarah are my great-great-great-grands.
****************************************************
Anyway, I recently bought an old 1889 version of
"The Op Dyck Genealogy" by Charles Wilson Opdyke
(Incidently there were three post cards in the book
dated 1939, 1959 and 1960...Mr. G.Horace Updike
signed the inside cover of the book in 1930)
The 1960 post card is in reference to the 35th
Annual Reunion and states "Family Crest Pins are
available for 50 cents each"
The referenced reunions were in Kirkwood, N.Y.
in 1959 and 1960.
Sorry, but I got off track there for a minute..
what I wanted to say was that the book referenced
above states "WITHOUT ILLUSTRATIONS"
*
1)Does anyone know what those illustrations are, in
the illustrated version, and DO I NEED THEM ??
*
2)Also, does anyone have a clue as to what those
referenced "family crest pins" look like ??
*
