That's interesting. I never looked south of Fayette. I had seen the name Zadock Parks before but I forget where. Could be on a Fayette census, or connected with the more northernly ones.
There was an Updegraph in downtown Pittsburgh about the same time as my Isaac was in Fayette. I forget the first name now, but his or his son's name was Uri. I think the son. But a Thomas Up... visited him in the early 1800s and commented that he also got info on relatives in the Wheeling area, commenting that they, as all the Updes around these parts, trace their ancestry to the .... area of PA. I am at work and forget the area right now but it was...on the tip of my tongue. I think it was something like the Susquehana area. Anyways, the Pittsburgh Upde was intermarried with Ann Covode. I have researched this bunch a bit and find no connection to my Updes, so dropped them.
Our John died in infancy so I don't know if the John you mentioned is related another way or not. You may see reports that our John lived to adulthood and took care of his mother in her later years but that is incorrect. When the family applied for the deceased Isaac Upde's pension benefits they said John died in infancy, but when the War Department or some branch wrote to another department they reversed two of the kids, which got past a researcher's eye and has caused confusion.
Tell me something about your Deborah Updegraft - that is, is she living in OH with an Updegraft husband or is she a head of household, or do you know? I have NO info on her, other than Clyde Updegraff Shank said our Simeon married a Deborah and they had one daughter. That Mitchell lead I gave you a couple days ago was all I could guess at.
