Hi, Richard. Although you and I probably are related through the original three brothers who came to Germantown, I see no connection in the 1800 and 1900s. My John Updegraph died in infancy, although a war pension record relating to his father and mother , Isaac and Mary, said differently. The widow sent a notarized statement saying our John died in infancy, but when when "bureau" wrote to another "bureau" in the war department they reversed two of the children. I have been to Dover, DE, but could find nothing on my branch. I believe your branch and mine were labeled "unconnected branches" as of 1988 when June Shaull Lutz wrote her book "History of the Op den Graef / Updegraff Family." Are you familiar with it? Because the good news is that there is a page about your ancestry (Page 46) among the "unconnected branches." It says that Andrew Updegraff b-10/28/1814 or 1815 near Lebanon, Ohio, died 7/5/1887 Iuka, Kansas, was the son of Jacob Updegraff. There is a little about Jacob and a good bit about Andrew and Margaret as well as three of Andrew's siblings. There are also two people listed as interested in more info on this branch, although this was before the 1988 publication so it may be able to contact them. If you do not know about the Updegraph book, I would be glad to photocopy the page and snail mail it to you if you give me an address. Perhaps your work address if you hesitate to give your home address. I would retype it here but it is too lengthy. Although it is only one page, it is single spaced with many abbreviations and would take effort to type correctly. I live in Western PA and my branch has been here since 1798, and the patriarch of that bunch, Isaac, was born 1743, and his first son was born in Kent County, Delaware. Brighter minds than mine are looking for the couple missing generations to get us to the original three brothers, and I have not done much research the last couple years. I do more in the winters, but haven't done much lately. I get excited, post a couple messages, maybe find one new distant relative, usually who is uncooperative or uninterested, and then I go back into hypernation for a while again. Good luck to you.
