Margaret E. Unger, age 80, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after a short illness. She was born in Waverly, Iowa, on April 9, 1927, to Herman and Laura (Rausch) Richmann. She was a 1974 graduate of Miami University with a master's degree in library science. She retired after 40+ years working for the West Alexandria and Lanier school districts. She was a member and 30-year choir member of Salem Lutheran Church, West Alexandria; member of the Retired Teachers Association; member of Alpha Kappa sorority and former Coterie member. She was a dedicated volunteer for her church, Preble County Historical Society, West Alexandria Food Bank, the American Cancer Fund, Women's Legion Auxiliary and the Oktoberfest. She was an avid sports fan of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale E.B. Unger, in 2004. She is survived by her son, Steve (Carol) Unger, West Alexandria, Ohio; two daughters, Susan (Dr. Gerald) Ackerman, Eaton, Ohio, Becky (Fred) Singer, Lebanon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jeff (Mandy) Thompson, Grant Thompson, Scott Thompson, Sarah (Rick) Pickerell and Brad Unger; one great-granddaughter, Aurora Mussey; two brothers, James Richmann, Tucson, Ariz., and John Richmann, Williams, Ariz.; and her sister, Helen (Tom) Kerf, Lake Bluff, Ill. Also deceased are her parents, Herman in 1979 and Laura in 1991; and her brother, Herbert, in 2006. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria, Ohio, with Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Donations may be made to Salem Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association Notify Administrator about this message?
