The other twelve children, listed by name, he leaves 'one dollar and fifty cents to be paid them at the end of five years after my decease and to be considered as their full share of my Estate' ."[29] The Will was contested. Jesse Hadley was ordered by Judge Randall, Judge of Probate February 3, 1808, to take the depositions of the witnesses to the will, Amos Reed, Sampson Prescott and Abram Prescott. They attested that 'Jonas Hadley was of sound disposing mind and memory..." recorded on February 15, 1808 in the Mount Holly Town Records Book 3, pg 411; Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Middlesex - Westford. The will, dated 1 Sept 1807, was probated on 14 March, 1808 and administration granted to Jesse Hadley by Joseph Randall, Judge of Probate. But it was not recorded by Stephen Tucker, Town Clerk, until 14 December 1812. Another court document dated 9 September 1811, representing Azubah Hadley [wife or daughter of Jonas/?] claiming that Jesse Hadley had 'absconded and gone to parts unknown...and praying that some suitable person may be appointed administrator.' Richard Lawrence, husband of Eunice Hadley, was appointed administrator after receiving surety bond of $3000 from Zacheus Prescott of Mt Holly to make inventory. Inventory was ordered and the settlement date was to be "of or before the 9th of September AD 1812, signed by William D Smith, Register." There may not have been sufficient funds to pay the debts.
