Dear Brian,
I would start with your father and his father and go as far back as you can. If you have aunts or uncles, contact them.Get as much information as you are able to. When you can go no further, consult the Underhill Genealogy; it's available in many libraries and can be purchased from the Underhill Society. It's not too hard to figure out. There are so many routes to take, census, marriage or death certificates, etc. Perhaps there are others out there who can advise you. If you have a couple of names with dates, let me know as I have a set of the Genealogy. Good luck.
