Finally I have found a descendent of John and Mary Jane Unangst Did you know she left for Nebraska to Homestead after her husband died. She settled 4 tracts of homestead land,a 160 acres with her son Carles E Unangst, her son Alexander Bertroud, her daughters, Harriet, Elizabeth and Samantha. I am still pursuing information to fill in the blanks. I am in Scranton,Pennsylvania, not too far from Stewartsville where some of Elijahs descendents still live. I am going there this summer. Mary Jane is buried in Omaha Nebraska and she had a Homestead in Bartlette, Nebraska. I am thrilled that you are here and hopfully you will get this message. To follow up on your question, Christopher was married to Nettie (Annette)Snover in 1886. They had one son, Herbert, my grandfather. SHe died and he later married Mary E. Decker, Unangst.
I am wondering what Mary Jane and Martha Catherine's mothers maiden name was.
