I have several sources of information for Edward and I would love to verify they all pertain to the same man and to gather any additional information on both Edward and his wife Hannah.
First in the mid 1960s I interviewed my great-grandmother, Mary Ann Ashton (Wilson) Sloyer (1873-1969). Her mother's maiden name was Elizabeth Kleine (1841 to 1845). According my great-grandmother her mother's sister, Hannah married an Edward Unangst. They had the following children: Esther, Mary, Hannah, Minnie, Stella, William, Carrie and Edward. The Kleine and Wilson families lived in Lower Saucon Twp. Northampton Co.PA. Elizabeth is buried at Lower Saucon Graveyard, Christ Union Church of Lower Saucon, Lower Saucon Twp, Northampton, PA. The 1890 Census for Lower Saucon Twp. Lists: Unangst Edward 54--Hannah 45, William H 21, Mary S 19, Minnie C 17, Hannah S 14, Carrie M 11, Edward K 8, Sarah E 4
Secondly the LDS files list a marriage of Hannah W. Klein to Edward Unangst on September 28, 1865 in Lower Saucon Twp, Northampton, PA
Thirdly, Civil War records of the 153rd PA Vol, hit very hard at Gettysburg, indicate an Edward Unangst in Co. C which was mustered from Lower Saucon Twp. Northampton Co.Info on the Northampton Co. Site indicate he was wounded 7/1/1863, first day of Gettysburg. He is listed as dying on 3/28/1908 in Lower Saucon Twp.
Fourthly, the pension records of Edward Unangst of 153rd PA Vol Co. C to were filed by wife Hannah.
Finally, a book "The Nicholas Hess Family 1741-1962 by Alice Hess Schlegel" lists a daughter of Edward Unangst, Mary S. Unangst born March 25, 1872, in Lower Saucon Twp, Northampton, Pennsylvania marrying Robert Henry Hess (1869-1894) who is buried in Lower Saucon Cemetery, Lower Saucon Twp. Northampton Co. PA which is another same for the same
cemetery as Elizabeth Kleine Wilson mentioned above.
