Have you checked out the Umstead Family Genealogy Central website? www.umstead.org It has a ton of information on the various Umstead families and where the family originated. Feel free to contact the webmistress, Cris, about your particular branch of the family. She's been collecting information on various Umstead/Umstat lines for many years and will be delighted to fit your "Ums" into the jigsaw puzzle of our collective Past! I descend from Hans Peter Umstat and his wife Barbara through their son Johannes and also through their daughter Eve, both of whom accompanied them in the Francis & Dorothy, which landed in Philadelphia from London in 1685. Was your Elizabeth Keller from Lancaster County or Cumberland County, PA? I have a Rev. Daniel Keller who was b. 1813 in Lancaster Co., PA, d. 1897 in Cumberland Co., PA. According to the 1886 "History of Cumberland County Pennsylvania," Elder Keller owned 320 acres in Russell Co, Kansas, along with a grist mill and a number of other properties in PA. I've often wondered, WHY Kansas? Good luck in your search, Lynn RootsSearcher (at) aol.com Notify Administrator about this message?
