Lajuana, I saw where Littleton Stokes married A.R. Gober in Tippah Co., MS, 1864, which I'm sure you already know. I haven't found any connection to the MS. Umph's as yet
"My" Stokes were last noted in GA and FL in 1859. It had to have been a next generation Stokes looked up my gr-gr grandad in TX with a blackmail offer of some sort, which may have been the fact that Ras' Dad was illegimate and it may have ruined all their reputations back then; they all seemed to be religious and upstanding citizens with just that one detail hanging over them. Since the story goes that Ras's sons 'drove him out of town', I would assume that this would have taken place in the early to mid 1900's.
