Hi Thomas,

I am from the Nicholas Michael Darter--Maria Parcell line....thru Nicholas the younger, b. 1770 in Lincoln, N.C. and Sarah Susan Spurlock, then Henry Darter, b. 1800 and Sarah Moore in Wythe County, VA., then William Henry Darter, born 1827....

I do not have Umbarger/Umberger or Harkrader in my direct descendancy, but I am interested because they are very involved in the Tarter line of the family.

I have been working on the family for a few years and just when I think I am making progress, I come up nose to nose with another brick wall.

I was preparing to make a post on the Umbarger/Umberger forum when I found your posting.....so decided to contact you.

I have managed to collect some Umbarger/Umberger information while researching some of the other surnames which connect with the Darter/Tarters and was interested in whether that was one family....ala Darter/Tarter...or if they are distinct families.

Rose
