Correction on my posting below.... My grandfather was born in 1864, so his father (name possibly John Umbarger) could have come from Germany from est. 1820 - 1864. Now for the message.....Does anyone have any knowledge of Umberger's coming over that were born in Germany in the estimated mid 1800's (est. 1820 - 1864).
My missing link may have actually been born in Germany about that time--- John Umbarger (John ?) I've always been under the assumption that Samuel Umbargers death certificate that stated his father was 'John' born Germany, was incorrect because most Umbergers came over earlier. But the Rhea County TN 1900 census states the same thing and I'm beginning to think my dead end may be caused by the fact that Samuel's father was actually born in Germany as the documents state. Any information appreciated.
