Harvey Crockett Whisman below is the son of James Harvey Whisman and Missouria Carolina Umberger (chart 51 and chart 119) Enterprise 10 Oct 2001 Wythe County VA Rachie Turner Whisman Rachie Turner Whisman, 98, of Wytheville, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, Wytheville, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Tom Sproule, the Rev. Howard Nelson and Wade Whisman officiating. Interment was in the West End Cemetery, Wytheville, Va. She was the oldest of five children of the late John Calvin and Betty Coppybarger Turner. She was one of the oldest active members of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church and was a very active member of the White Toppers as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey "Ouse" Whisman; and two grandchildren, Edward Guynn and Freddie Taylor Jr. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and James Guynn Sr., and Jettie and Fred Taylor, all of Wytheville, Va.; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Elizabeth Whisman of Wytheville, Va., Walt and Lois Whisman of Ovalo, Texas, Wiley C. "Pete" and Nora Whisman of Skillman, N.J., and Tom and Jean Whisman of Dublin, Va.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Virginia Whisman; a special nephew, David Whisman; a special friend, Betty Crockett; and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Wytheville Presbyterian Church or to the Fireman Relief Fund. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va., was in charge of the arrangements.
