Hi - I have a bit more information that may help all of us working on the Ulmer families in the Durrn, Baden (Pforzheim and Dietlingen) areas of Germany and possibly in the Johnnestal and Walter colonies in Russia. New information which I recieved from Mary Corns shows the following lineage - 1. Georg Ulmer - married to Margaretha Schecklin 2/12/1677/78 2. Son Bechtold Ulmer married Barbara Nublin 11/13/1724 (second marriage to Anna Maria Haug) 3. Son Johann Jacob Ulmer born 12/10/1728 in Dietlingen, Germany - married Katharina Weissenbacker 11/20/1752 - died 4/8/1797 4. Son John Frederick Ulmer born 3/17/1771 in Dietlingen - married Juliana Funk (Finckin) 5/3/1796 - died 1/15/1845 in Ohio TWO CHILDREN NEXT GENERATION 5. Daughter Julyanna Ulmer born 3/20/1803 in Durrn - married Christoph Klump 1/22/1828 in Durrn - died 4/19/1878 in Marion Township, Hocking County, Ohio 5. Son Jacob Frederich Ulmer born 2/19/1797 in Durrn - married Wilhelmina Helena Weber 9/19/1822 in Baden - died 1/29/1881 Hocking County, Ohio (This family is the same one that appears in my previous posts on this forum. Julyanna Ulmer above was one of the witnesses at the baptism of Jacob Freerich's son Matthias, my great grandfather) Entered through the Port of Baltimore Maryland in 1832 Jacob Frederick Ulmer age 35 Helena Ulmer age 29 Jacob Ulmer age 10 Helena Ulmer age 8 Mathaus Ulmer age 6 (Matthias) Rosina Ulmer age 4 Andreas Ulmer age 2 Frederick Ulmer age 64 Juliana Ulmer age 66 Christian Klump age 35 Julianna Klump age 29 (Julyanna Ulmer) Mary Barb Klump age 4 Johnnestal and Walter colonies in the USSR. Catherine the Great of Russia was a German empress born in 1729 and empress of Russia 1762 to 1796. She invited people from her homeland to come to Russia and promised them a household set-up if they would come. Many did including Ulmers from the same area of Germany. The possible connection of this Ulmer family listed in this post to the Johannestal and Walter colonies would probably be at the same generation as Jacob Frederick (#3 above). There is so much similarity in the family names that it would seem that it would be worthwhile looking for connections. Hope this information helps someone! Vicki
