In the 1850 Census for Braxton, VA (which is now WV). I found a Henry Ullrich living alone. It looks like the name was originally spelt Uldrich, but there is a dark line on the "d" as though the census worker was trying to change it to an "l".
This Henry is 30 yrs old and living alone. At first glance it appears he works as a Sugar manufacturer. I thought Sugar Cane grew in areas like Savannah or the Carribean. It also looks like it might be Sigar manufacturer...possibly a misspelling for Cigar?
