Surname Ulloa, Origin, etc,

So, I actually have researched quite a bit about the surname, and from what I have found, the Ulloa surname is actually of English Origin, having spanned generations in the land of Yorkshire and really becoming prominent in 1066 A.D. and given lands by the then Duke of Normandy and King of England William I. Now the Ulloa name has quite a few spelling variations and the most common are Halowett, Howlet, Hullet and others. I have also found that during the Middle Ages a lot also left to other countries, to be more specific Spain and France. They were found to be prominent in areas such as Galicia and Southern France. I also found that the Ulloa's can also be traced into Ireland.

Now although the names origin is English previous to the Ulloa name it is said the name was actually the Norman name of Hugh and then was changed during the period of the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 A.D.

So from what I could find most Ulloa's are most like of English decent, but due to changes many moved to different areas, without taking into account those that have the spelling variations that most likely stayed in England. Hence the fact that the Ulloa name can be traced into so many European countries. If you really want to trace your specific line I recommend that you go about looking at your ancestors and seeing where they were primarily based.

I also found two different Coat of Arms, one which is from the primary origin of the surname, English, and one used by the Ulloa's in Ireland.
