Hi,
I am looking for information on the father of silent screen star Douglas Fairbanks Sr.
His biological father was Hezekiah Charles ulman (have also seen it spelled Ullman). He was related to the Ulmans of Williamsport, PA. His father, Lazarus ulman, came to the US from Baden, Germany sometime around 1830 with his wife Lydia Abrahams. The family was Jewish.
Charles was the fourth child in a large family that apparently included five brothers and four sisters, but I do not know their names. Can anyone out there help with this?
H. Charles ulman was born in Berrysburg, PA in appx. 1833, but grew up in Williamsport. He was a Captain in the civil War in the 5th PA Reserves and afterwards practiced law in Philadelphia, New york City, and Denver, CO.
Before marrying Ella Marsh (Douglas Fairbanks' mother), Ulman apparently had a previous marriage and children back in NY. I am trying to find out their names also.
Ulman died in Brooklyn, NY in 1915.
Any information about him or his family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
