Hello,
I am Niels Uland ('76)from Holland I typt the name Uland in google and I found this site. Never new that there were Uland's at the other end of the world! I think Uland is from origin Uhland it's a german name! We live 5 km from the border with germany and the recorded history of our family in Holland dates back to the 17 th century. Uhland is well nown name in germany. There are lots of Uhlandstrassen (streetnames)in berlin, bocholt etc. that i now of. This Uland was a famous Poet in germany and I believe he was from Nobel blood? If this is family I don't now! Some how all the uland's are linked. And some are mis interpatation's of another name. You have Uland and Uwland around here the W is added by someone at the civilsercie in the 19 th century does creating 2 families. There are not a lot of Ulands in Holland left. Just a few families all in the eastern part of Holland. Some of ower relatives have gone to america in the end of the 19th century an uncle of my grandfather but het returned to Holland in the 1920's! This is the story of a Uland in Holland! Like to here of more Uland's in the world because in Holland it's a fairly unique name!
