Hi again Hania,
Ok, some clarification, on the 1901 Manitoba census, my grandfather is listed as Mykola Lanewyi, I ASSUMED that was the same as Michael as that is the name that he went by and is on his headstone. Also, my father named my younger brother after him, Michael. However, in 1906 he is Mikola, and 1911 he is Mikolas.
I just found a 1905 land agreement in which he is listed as Mikolai. So I am again a little confused.Nicholas is a very common Ukrainian name in Manitoba as is Michael and Walter.
