First start with Wasilij's history in German.
Germans kept impeccable records of anyone who stepped foot into Germany. A copy of their documents will tell you where he spent his time during the war. Service is provided free of charge to family. You need only to provide their full names and any variants you may be aware of and exact birth dates. You need not fill in anything else.
Your request for information can be made by e-mail, but response will come via snail mail/regular post.
Don't forget to indicate your relationship to him and provide your return address. Turn around time can be as much as three months.
Once you access link for Bad Arolsen Records, click HUMANITARIAN REQUESTS. Next click APPLICATION FORMS.
