We received a letter today from Odessa's government saying that they looked for these relatives of ours all over Odessa but did not find them anywhere. This may not be necessarily true but if anyone knows anything about the people listed in the Subject section of this message, we will be grateful to get a reply from you. Valentina was born around 1939, her husband, Pyotr, is roughly eight years older than she is. They have two children, Alexander and Igor who must be in their 30s and 40s right now. Even if Valentina and Pyotr are no longer alive, it is hard to believe that their sons are also gone for they are relatively young people. The last time we saw these people was in mid-1980s in their apartment in Odessa. Zietsers lived then on Karl Liebknecht Street, either #30 or #3. Valentina is my granfather's cousin, in other words her mother and my grandfather's father are brother and sister with a huge difference in age. And Valentina's mother, Sophya Osipovna Faidel (Milyavskaya- which is also my mother's maiden last name) must have been burried in Odessa for a long time if they haven't done anything to Sophya's grave. Sophya did not live long, neither did her husband. They both worked in a medical field, and both died at a relatively young age. Sophya was about 50 when she died. I think I gave here a lot of information, we are disappointed at the replies we received from Odessa regarding this family. They couldn't have just disappeared on the moon or something, the entire family to die (there are fairly young people there), or God forbid, the entire family to be killed (we just don't know what to think). Although cases of antisemitic murders are not unknown in Russia, they are not frequent there, so this scenario is pretty much out of the question. Maybe Zietsers immigrated somewhere but for one thing, the Odessian government wrote to us that (if we understood them correctly) they checked their immigration records and didn't find Zietsers there either, and another thing, I asked the Israeli government whether Zietsers have crossed their borders but the Israelis are silent. So enough chichat here. If you know anything about this family, we will be very grateful if you get in touch with us. Thank you.
