There are two possibilities, both in Ukraine today:
# 1
From late 18th century to 1919 wies/village Hubice was hamlet size. The filial Greek Catholic church was in Dobromil and the filial Roman Catholic Church was in Nowe Miasto.Dobromil was both the powiat/administrative district and the gmina/jusicial-tax district > Lwowskie Wojiwodstwo/Region > Galicia/Halyczyna (Ukrainian) , administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire.1919-1939 this region came under Reconstituted Poland's domain.Poland had not existed as a geopolitical entity for the previous 125 yrs.Post WW2 region came under Soviet domain until 1991, when Ukraine became independent. All names above in Polish.
Today selo/village Hubitse (coordinates 49.36-22.46, very close to current Ukrainian and Polish border, 2.4 miles NNW of Dobromil) still exists > Starosambirskij (Starosambir) raion/district > Lvivska (Lviv) Oblast/Region > Ukraine, latest zip code 82041.
# 2
Time frame & geographical detail same as above.
Wies Hubicze (could also have been spelled Gubicze) was predominantly a Ruthenian/Ukrainian village with its own Greek Catholic Church. The filial RC Church was in Drogobycz.Drogobycz was both the powiat and gmina.
Today selo Hubiche (coordinates 49.19-23.27, 3.2 miles NNW of Drohobych) still exists, but is too small to have its own post ofc > Drohobytskij (Drohobych) raion > Lvivska Oblast > Ukraine, latest zip c/o poshta Derezhychi 82185.
Locating ancestral village on map.I prefer using Mapquest (M), once you bring placename up.
