Korney Kozak, born approx.1890 in Volyn', Ukraine
Hello !
For a long time, it has been my strong wish to find something or someone who could help me obtain any information about Korney Kozak, my Grandfather. From a description of the events, provided by my Dad, Vitaliy Kozak and my aunts Eva and Fiona Kozak, I know that their father Korney Kuzmich (his middle name ) Kozak immigrated to Canada through Poland after World War II . He was born in 1890 or 1895 in Ukraine, took part in World War I, was in captivity in Germany, returned to Ukraine and married Kharitina Semenchuk, my grandmother. They had lived in Zornishe, a village in Olykskiy district of Volynskaya area till 1939. After the Western Ukraine was attached to the Soviet Union, he was sent to prison by a false accusation ( because of his captivity during WW I ). His wife and three children were subjected to repressions and were deported from Ukraine after his arrest. The prison, where my grandfather had been put, was bombed out at the beginning of the war, and he managed to escape.
After he settled down in Canada, he made attempts to find his wife and the children through his brother and relatives in Zhornishe and in Poland, but without any success.
I will be a miracle if I can find anybody in Canada who heard about my Grandfather or met him.
Thank you for any information in advance.
Warm regards,
Tatiana
