Surname origin - Litus and Gil

In the Greek Catholic records for the villages of Zadneshivka and Myslova (east of Ternopil on the eastern edge of the old Austrian empire) are the names Litus (Zadneshivka) and Gil (Myslova).

These do not (at least to me) sound like typical Ukrainian names.

Can anyone shed any light on their origins?
