In the 1916 census in Edmonton, John Panisko and Annie have 7 children, John, 18 and Annie 16 born in Galicia, Mary, 12, Minnie, 10 and Maggie, 8 born in WInnipeg, and Mike 5, and Dora, 9 months old born in Alberta. So evidently John and Annie arrived in Winnipeg first- it says 1901 for year of immigration, and moved to Edmonton between 1908 and 1911. It also says John is a machinist. My grandfather worked in the coal mines of Drumheller, Alberta, maybe Mr. Panisko did as well?
So I can see John Panisko arriving in Winnipeg, presumably his brother or relative Yurko was already there to help him settle.
