Following is Iwan (likely anglicized to John) who was from Ternopil region of Ukraine. From late 18th century to 1919 this region was in Galicia Province, administered by ethnic Poles for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1927 this region was under the domain of Reconstituted Poland. Post WW2 this region was part of SSR Ukraine under Soviet domain until 1991 when Ukraine became independent.

Iwan is listed as ethnically Ukrainian. Since he was emigrating in 1927. when this region was a part of Poland, he was listed as a Polish citizen. He was naturalized in Canada in 1945.

As per ship's manifest he left his father, Ilko (Elias), behind in village Pokropiwna> Kozlow > Tarnipol > Poland. Iwan was heading for Winnipeg.
