I hoping to ask for some help regarding some of my family. The last name has been spelled Komarnizki or Komarnitsky. I am not sure which one it is for sure. I have been told that my great great grandparents emigrated to New York and a few generations lived there. They spoke Ukrainian in the house. (I hope Im saying that correctly) I found a Michael Komarnizki on Family Search. org and I believe that is the same relative because the birth and death dates lined up very close (on the family tree it says '85-'62 and the social security index showed 1884-1963 and in New York, so I am pretty sure this is the same person. Other than that, I really do not have more information. I have on the family tree that Michael Komarnizki was married to Julia Wiczkowka who was born 1818 and died 1918. They had two children, Mae and Stephanie or Stella which was my great grandmother. I was lucky to have grown up with her son (my grandfather) so I got to see her a few times over the years. If anyone can offer any insight into the origins of this family name or any information I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your time.
