My great great grandfather and the sugar trade
Good Evening everybody
I wonder if anybody has any information regarding the sugar trade around the Kamienic Podolski area in the eary part of the twentieth century.
I am trying to find out any information I can about my great great grandparents and their daughter, my great grandmother. They were called Ksenofont & Melania Malewany, their daughter was Maria and I believe they lived in Kamieniec Podolski (this was on Maria's death certificate as her place of birth). From stories passed on through the family they were quite wealthy and powerful people in the sugar trade.
All I really know is that Ksenofont was killed in the bolsheviks at some point in 1917. Melania and Maria then ran away to Lodz, Poland. I now that the house and all their belongings were set on fire by the bolsheviks too as they left to flee to Poland.
I guess im really looking for any information about them or the sugar trade around that time which may hel me find out more about them.
Thanks for looking.
Richard
