Hania, the Hykawy side of the family comes from around Kopychentsi/Wasylkivtsi,Husiatyn,Galacia. I had no idea that any Hykawy's were cossacks. But now you've peeked my interest please tell me more. I was actually looking at a story from my mother's side of the family. That family name is Bzovy. The particular individual that I was looking for is Andrew Bzovy. The story is that Andrew was a cossack and also a musician who played violin at weddings and such. One night while playing at a wedding, the police raided the wedding and during the raid Andrew recieved a beating from the police from which he never recovered and eventually passed away due to the injuries sustained. My aunt has also told me that the police were specifally looking for him.The Bzovy's are from the Synkiv District, Zalishchky,Galacia. Andrew passed away in 1900.
