Momrik/Momryk
I'm looking for any and all information about the Momryk (??????) family out of what is now the L'vivs'ka oblast in the Ukraine. This area used to be called Galacia and was a part of Austria. The letter "o" carries a 'u' sound and therefore, the Mymryk may actually be the root spelling (since the Ukranian character that resembles the Latin 'y' carries a 'u' sound)
I know of two brothers the came from there to the USA in 1904 (Wasyl Momryk born 1875) and 1914 (Fedor Momryk born 1886).The children of both of these men decided to change the spelling of the name to the current Momrik that I now bear.I'm told that the father of those two men may have been named Alexander.
I'm lead to believe that there may have been a need in the area to differentiate the last names due to the number of family members.I've found that alternate spellings may be Mymryk, Memryk, Mamryk and Mimryk.
I am primarily interested in possible additional siblings of Wasyl (Bill) and Fedor (Ted), along with confirmation on their parents.
