Oooh, at last!I've had severe difficulties with this family, they move around a lot, but there is a whole village in Dorset, called Chesilbourne or Cheselbourne, which has at least 20 families between 1841 and 1881, all with that surname.Of course, I can't find any of the ones I want!I have a James Eli Christopher, born in Godmanstone, Dorset. His father possibly John, was a shepherd, and James became a soldier in WWI.He was enlisted into the Durham Light Infantry and was killed in action near Arras, France on 12/9/1918.His memorial is at Vis en Artois, about 10k from Arras. His brother Alfred enlisted too, but stayed in the Dorset Regiment, and that is all I know of him.Their brother Arthur, born 1883 in Winterbourne Abbas, Dorset, became my great grandfather, marrying a lady called Phoebe Gertrude Wills. That is the total extent of the family that I could find, apart from one or two siblings. There is a rumour that Arthur, James and Alfred were three of 19 children.Phoebe was one of 22!!Anyway, if you think there could be a link, or even if you just want to vent your frustrations, let me know, at [email protected] and I'll be happy to swap more horror tales.Liz.
