Thornwood RAEC Camp
Posted by: Wendy (ID *****2096) Date: July 13, 2013 at 06:37:02

Please could someone tell me about Thornwood RAEC Camp? I've found someone who was a Sergeant there, but can't find much information on it.

He is listed as a Sergeant and was 21 years old at the time (1947). He is shown as 'Assistant ---- Manager' on the marriage certificate, but I can't quite make out the missing word, although it looks like it could be 'Theatre'. Would this be correct?

If he was a Sergeant at 21, does it mean he would have signed as a 'regular' after doing National Service? I'm afraid my knowledge of military matters is sadly lacking!

I'd love to know more about the Camp, and would be grateful for any information at all.

Many thanks.
