I saw your other post with Joseph's marriage info - wife's name and place of marriage.
I found the marriage record for Joseph SHEPPARD , and Isabella KERR ,
Dec. 17, 1888 Boston - Joseph born England, Isabella born St. John, NB
Joseph is a ship's steward, Isabella is a tailoress - it is first marriage for both
It shows her parents as Thomas and Elizabeth and his as Joseph and Ann
so it may be that whoever entered the info on his death record has his parent's names wrong
I would think that when he married he would have known his parents names so would trust that info a bit more
You can see the image of the marriage record at familysearch.org for free
it is in Massachusetts Marriages 1841-1915
I looked for Joseph's birth and also for him in 1871 census - no luck yet with the census
There is a possible birth
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about Joseph H Sheppard
Name: Joseph H Sheppard
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1866
Registration district: Hackney
Inferred County: London
I'm not sure what to make of the difference in his parents names from what is shown on his marriage and what is shown on his death record. The only thing I can think of is that when he married he should have known the names of his parents and when he died his daughter (I see she is informant on the death record) may have got it wrong
OR it may be that his mother was Mary Ann or Ann Mary ?
and father maybe Joseph James or James Jospeh
just a thought. also could the name Jenerald be misspelled as that name does not seem to show up in England records
