Hi Carolyn, Thanks again! Your work on my behalf with the Hammonds has been a great help and your offer to look through some Irish records for me is much appreciated. Ireland I have found is one of the more difficult countries to research as many of the records were lost in 1920 when the Post Office and other buildings were burnt during the Irish civil war. THE SMITH STORY My gggrandfather Smith David (b c1800) m Mary Atkinson in Co Monaghan (likely Tedavnet parish. townland Rafeenan) His brother Edward b c1795 m Dorcis Pogue 3 Aug 1822 in Rafeenan Tedavnet Am looking for other siblings. Possibly Elizabeth b c1805, Alice b c1807, Robert b c 1805 and John who married a Mary David and Mary's Children Charles b c1822 (Tedavnet) m Anne Jackson in Rafeenan Henry b c1825 Tedavnet m Susanna McQuaid 1850 in Balinode Samuel b c1823 (Tedavnet) m Ellen McGeogh 1881 I believe that there was also a William and a Robert Likely others, as there were large families at that time though many died young Charles children Henry 1861=1947 m Annie Charlotte davies (b 1864) m 1884 Clogh Church Co Fermanagh (my grandparents) David (b c1855) m Sarah Kingsbury 1877 Robert 1844-1928 I have no marriage for him nor family I am still looking for other children for Charles. I have the rest of the story for Henry and David It was at during the period 1850-1870 I believe Charles and his family moved from the Tydavnet area to Castleblayney in Co Monaghan. I have been unable to pin point the date any more accurately Am still looking for other children for Charles. I have the story for the descendants for Henry though The family names appear to be David, Henry, Robert, William, Thomas, Samuel, Albert, Eliza, Dorcis (or Darkey), Elizabeth and Mary. Alexander Smiths appear at this time in Rafeenan but I have been unable to link them to my ancestors It is my belief that the father of David (c 1800) could have been John and his father was also a John d Rafeenan in 1944 The family originally came i believe from Scotland and were strong Presbyterians There it is a thumb nail intro to the SMITH Family and any information on the missing BMDs would be a great help Should you wish to contact me directly please use smiler70@rogers.com David Notify Administrator about this message?
