Hi David,

I'm glad I could help a bit.

Also with you giving me the names of children of John and Eliza I will able to find them.

1841 WATERLOO ROAD SECOND, LAMBETH, SURREY
CHAPEL
Sophiea, age 55, born Surry

GILL
John, age 35, tin plate worker, born other than Surrey

Eliza, age 30, born other than Surrey

Henry, age 1, born Surrey

Mary, age 60, born other than Surrey

CROWE, Mary, age 45, born other than Surrey

HART, Philip, age 40, coach man, born other than Surrey

***********************************

1851 WESTMINSTER ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST, MIDDLESEX
GILL
John, age 45, tin plant worker, born Devon

Eliza, wife, age 39, born Middlesex

Henry, son, age 11, born Surrey

Eliza, daughter, age 9, born surrey

**************************************
1861 HAGGERSTONE WEST, SHOREDITCH, MIDDLESEX- 89 MORNSFIELD ST.
GILL
John, age 55, tin plate worker, born Teverstock, Devon

Eliza, age 49, born Middlesex, St. Luke

Henry, son, age 21, tin plate worker, born Surrey, Lambeth

Eliza, daughter, age 19, born Surrey, Lambeth

Mary Ann, daughter, age 9, born Westminster, St. Johns

**********************************

1871 HAGGERSTON WEST, ST LEONARD SHOREDITCH, LONDON - 180 KINGSLAND ROAD
GILL
John, age 65, gas meter maker, born Tavistock, Devon

Eliza, wife, age 58, born Saint Lukes, Middlesex

Mary Ann, daughter, age 19, born Westminster, Middlesex

********************************

1871 HAGGERSTON EAST, ST LEONARD SHOREDITCH, LONDON - 12 REGENT'S ROW
GILL
Henry, age 31, gas meter maker, born Lambeth, Surrey

Eliza, wife, age 25, nellum server, born Middlesex, Spitafields

Mary A., daughter, age 1, born Shoreditch

******************************
I couldn't find Eliza and daughter Mary A. in 1891 or later. Could Eliza have remarried after Henry died? If so , did she change Mary's surname as well?

I found a death for a Henry William Gill - died Oct/Nov/Dec 1873 Shoreditch
born about 1839

Also a death for John Gill, - died Jan/Feb/Mar 1877 - Shoreditch, born about 1805

I didn't find a death for Eliza Gill though and could not find her after 1871 census so had assumed she died before 1881 but as I say I cannot find a death for her.
There is a death of an Eliza Gill born about 1812, died Shoreditch Apr/May/June 1891

so it may be her and I just haven't found her in 1881

*************************************************

I found the marriage for Henry William Gill and Eliza

Henry William Gill married Apr/May/June 1867 Shoreditch, London/Middlesex
I looked to see who else was on same page and found
Eliza Arabelle Steele

So, although her middle name is slightly different I/m sure it is the right couple. Also this confirms middle name for Henry so death is right.

********************************************

Eliza Arabella Steele, born Oct/Nov/Dec 1845, Whitechapel, London, Middlesex

*****************************************

I found a birth that may be Mary, daughter of Henry and Eliza

Mary Ann Gill, born 1870 Jan/Feb/Mar, Shoreditch, London, Middlesex

She is the only one I found with right name and place of birth.
*********************************

All of this I have gotten either from census records on ancestry.com or from BMD on ancestry.com
I had almost forgotten about the other databases there but luckily remembered in time to find a bit more for you. While the BMD indexes only give a bit of info this next gives much more.

Next I went to the London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921

SAINT JAMES, SHOREDITCH, HACKNEY
JUNE 10, 1867 - District Church according to Banns
Henry William Gill, age 27, bachelor, tin plate worker
residence: 5 Fleming Street
Father: John Gill, tin plate worker

Eliza Arabella Steele, age 21, spinster
Residence: 5 Fleming Street
Father: Joseph Steele, tailor

In presence of: John Bowden and Mary Ann Bowden - both signed with their mark
Henry and Eliza signed their names

*********************
I think this next is possibly Mary Ann, daughter of Henry and Eliza.

BIRTH, MARRIAGE AND DEATH, LONDON, ENGLAND 1754-1921
TOWER HAMLETS, SAINT THOMAS, BETHNAL GREEN
March 16, 1890
in the Parish Church by BannsMary Ann Gill, age 20, spinster, laundress
Residence: 25 Columbia Road
Father: Henry William Gill deceased, gas maker

Albert Alfred Atkins, age 22, bachelor, labourer
Residence: 25 Columbia Road
Father: James Atkins, labourer

in the presence of George Copson and Jesse Beal

** the name for her father is right as is his occupation and the fact he is deceased so it does seem to match.

But this also means that Mary Ann should be found in the 1881 census so I tried again but still could not find her. I may have found Albert and Mary Ann in 1891

1891 UPPER HOLLOWAY, ISLINGTON, LONDON - MARLBORUGH ROAD
ATKINS
Albert, age 23, general laborer, born Northampton, Stoney Stratford

May, wife, age 21, born Londin, Shoreditch

Albert son, age 1, born London, Islington

** son Albert is shown age 7 in index but it is unclear in image so I think it more likely he is age 1

***********************************
1901 UPPER HOLLOWAY, ISLINGTON, LONDON - 117 COTTENHAWK
ATKINS
Albert, age 35, paver, road lab. , worker, born Northampton

Mary Ann, wife, age 31, born Hoxton

Susan, daughter, age 8, born Holloway

Harry, son, age 7, born Holloway

Alfred, son, age 4, born Holloway

Alice, daughter, age 5, born Holloway
****************************
I don't know where son Albert is - I looked for him in death records between 1891 and 1901 but found nothing.
I did find an Albert Atkins, age 11, living in Speen, Berkshire as a boarder - born London, England
He is with the Charles and Theodisia Simmons family. I don't know whether he is the right boy or not or why he would be there but thought I would give it to you in case it matches up later on.

********************************

I think that is about all I can find for now. If you have any other family you need me to search for let me know. I love doing this
You asked about Irish records. I don't think there is a lot to be found for Ireland. I read that a lot of the records have been lost. I have not had much luck when looking for them.
I can give it a try for you though as their are some records on ancestry that I could search. What are the names and dates of your ancestors there.?
