I think you need to give more info for anyone to help you.
For instance who are the folks who lived in Scotland? You don't say.
Was your mother born there or in Australia? When you say you want to bring some of her ashes home I have assumed she was born Scotland but is that right?
Were her parents born Scotland? Did they stay in Scotland for did they go to Australia.
Would any of them have been in Scotland for the 1901 census which is the latest available??
Can you give approximate birth years for them and where in Scotland they were from.
I have access to Scottish census and would be happy to check them for you but need to know what to look for - dates are a big help and places help as well.
