Might also try and find the grandmother's family on the 1851 & 1861 Census to see if there were any sons who may have married before 1870
OR
whether there were any daughters of an age who may have had a child out of wedlock by 1870
If so, try and trace the son(s) and/or daughter(s) to see if Sarah Ann shows up with them........ if she had an unwed mother, possible she is listed on census under the husband's name altho she was not his daughter...........
