Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Eve,

Your questions reminded me of story that a friend of mine told to me when we were in college.

She was traveling in Europe with a friend of hers. While there on a train, they met and started talking to someone from one of the European countries. When he asked where they were from, they said California. He then asked them 2 questions: 1. Do you surf? 2. Are you gay?

You can get a good idea about the genealogy of Genealogy.com from:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010603180638/www.genealogy.com/company.html
which is an old version of the About Us page (prior to the acquisition by MyFamily.com, Inc.).

And, MyFamily.com, Inc.'s Press Release area, at:
http://www.myfamilyinc.com/pressroom/archive.htm
should give you an idea about its investors (which would probably have been unnecessary if MyFamily.com, Inc. was a LDS-run organization).

-->Paul B.
