Windows XP/UFT 3.1 oatch NOT installing

HELP!!!!

I just got a Dell Windows XP Pentium 4 computer and NONE of the patches seem to be working!

I copied the patch 26 and uft 3.1 onto cd (internet hooked up to different computer in house), and then tried to load onto new computer.

problems: patch 26 loads into temp files ok, but when i try to install, says old file doesnot exist. i tried loading the non-specific patch with the same results.

i have original UFT 3.0.0.2 installed on computer. when i try to install the patch, it tells me patch file does not exist!

i followed ALL the instructions ya'll gave on previous post/other website, still to no avail! i'm looking at loosing 5 years of research unless i buy TMG now, unless someone can help on this !

thanks for any assist-if i can't get worked out by tonight, will have to buy new program-have wedding coming up in family and need printouts for booklets asap!!!
