PROTXT caused a general protection fault

Does anyone know what to do, please, when 'PROTXT caused a general protection fault' appears when attempting to save 'family journal' as a rtf file, so it won't let me?! We've only had problems with UFT since having a new motherboard, and it seems that, maybe, the computer is too quick for the program! We also have the foxprow protection fault, downloaded the patch which only worked for a short time, now we ignore the foxprow!
Thanks in anticipation, from someone who is a novice with computers!
Joy
