I would add one word to your posting above concerning curly braces and backslashes: INCORRECTLY.

"Check you text for any {} or \ characters. These cannot be used "INCORRECTLY" in text that will be printed to file using RTF format."

It is possible for the user to intentionally insert certain RTF codes in Ultimate Family Tree text without harm. Why would one do this? Perhaps to show subscripts, superscripts or some other type of formatting. But note that this coding will then display and print in any reports sent directly to the printer in non-RTF format.
