We all have triva about ancestors birth dates. My great-grandfather filed a pention for naturalization on July 20, 1912. On this pention he lists his children so they can be naturalized with him. There was one problem, His second child, my grandfather, who was born in 1891, would have been to old to be included on his fathers naturalization application, so they changed his birth year to 1893 and subsequently had to change all of the other 7 children included on the application to keep them in order.
The also did not remember, or prefered not to remember the year they had arrived in the United States, so the arrivel date is wrong. They arrived October 31, 1905 (passenger manifest)and the naturalization application shows arrival as November 3, 1904.
The 1910 census shows the correct ages and the manifest shows the correct ages but the confusion came because my aunt found the naturalization papers first.
