I have UFT v.2.8 and FTM v.7.5. I would not consider FTM a superior product to UFT; for that matter, UFT is much superior to any FTM version. FTM does accept GEDCOM files, but you will lose whatever you have in Roles. Report Text would get transfered (at least in v.7.5) into one of two Notes fields of limited size without any connection to the tag (now called *fact*) that it was associated with. The feature of embedded cites in the Report Text is lost, and at least in v.7.5, short footnotes and ibid don't exist.
Your best bet is TMG as it will accept all your data as you had it in UFT. Legacy also made an offer for UFT users, but not all data would be accepted and you lose Roles. But it would be better than FTM, IMO.
