Jumping from UFT to TMG

I have used the Roots family of products for over ten years. I just jumped ship to The Master Genealogist.

While not the most glamourous looking program it is even more capable than UFT and far far easier to use. After all these years I still find I have to read and re-read the UFT manual to complete even the simplest of tasks.

Someone on this board said they ditched TMG because the direct import was not "clean". How silly. I did it with a minimum of trouble. While not perfect, what import is. One must audit their data and make appropriate changes. (I always had to do that when upgrading between versions of UFT).
GEDCOM in any situation is simply not viable.

UFT is sinking fast. I think it is an example of really bad programming. It terrifies me to think that its sister program Family Tree Maker is a top seller. It caters a crowd who are content to produced useless genealogies.

It is one program I scrapped after a day.

Cheers.
