The CD's mentioned are not required to use UFT. You need to start by adding all the information you know about your immediate family, and then adding any information you know or can gather about your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. until you get to a point that you no longer have doccumation about your ancestors.

It may be you can search the web for the names of your ancestors and find additional data there. Maybe at ancestry.com, rootsweb.com or genealogy.com or use the CD's mentioned. The index for the CD's is online and can be checked through UFT using the "Online" radio button and selecting "Family Search".
