Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The obvious reaction to anything likely to cause trouble for the owners would be to withdraw the Website completely.
That would upset most users of UFT.
IMHO anyone who has bought UFT recently should demand a refund from their seller.
Warnings have been posted for more than a year and in reality a recent buyer has been "conned" locally.
I persist in using UFT because it is excellent and is no worse than it was 12 months ago. There is nothing wrong with most "old" software or hardware.
