defacto/married/not - how to show?

I cannot find out how to get the program to differentiate between
1. married couples.
2. same-sex couples.
3. defacto relationship.
4. a man and woman who share the care of their child but were only an 'item' for a few months.

Has anybody figured out a way around this?
