Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Malcom-
I thought Paul's response was rather clever-and unfortunately quite accurate, because an official announcement stated that all further development of UFT was halted with version 3.1.

However, your version 2.9 should serve you quite well, and it did not contain certain new bugs introduced in version 3.0. So, although the learning curve is steep, your immediate needs will be well served by UFT 2.9.

However a large number of experienced UFT users are quite happily transferring data to
The Master Genealogist (TMG). I am not yet one of them, but no doubt will be some day. Right after I cite my first source.

If money is not a problem, you can eliminate one learning curve by purchasing TMG at the special upgrade price offered to users of UFT at this time. The Web URL for making this purchase is given in several places both on this forum and on the TMG forum on this site. (Whollygenes.com).
