emailing an indented report

Please someone HELP
I can't seem to sort this out. I looked in the manual, I can't follow it. When it says to choose you file from the drop down list. What is the computer name of an indented report in family tree? Do I open my project, then click on page setup, then external, then I can't seem to go any further.
What am I doing wrong. I am a bit worried I will muck up my report.
Can you tell me in plain english how to do this someone.
