You are thinking of a null modem that is used to connect serial ports together.

You do not need this type of cable for parallel ports. Just a standard parallel cable with the correct plugs on each end.

That is how parallel transmission works. All 8 bits are transfered at the same time as opposed to send and receive data leads on the serial cable which have to be reversed in the wiring.
